1. Re: Sharm vs Hurghada vs Marsa Alam. You could stay at Port Ghalib in Marsa Alam and then wander around the marina at night and have some food or a drink. It's not heaving or huge but has a nice relaxed feel. Take a look at the Sunrise Marina and The Palace.
Transfers between the airport and the resort can be included within your package. You will be met by a representative from Red Sea Diving Safari outside the terminal building. The transfer time from Hurghada is approximately 3 hours, and from Marsa Alam around 30 minutes. A Visa is required for entry into both Hurghada and Marsa Alam.

I went on the bus about a year ago in the other direction from Aswan via Edfu to Marsa Alam. I think it took about 4 hours cost about 30 Egyptian Pounds, and had a pretty violent, very loud video service included in the price!
